JFK Airport New Terminal One

Since 2019, Agencie has been involved in the New Terminal One at JFK Airport, the largest single infrastructure project in the United States. Agencie is the MWBE partner for Thornton Tomasetti. The terminal is a 2.5 million square feet, 23-gate terminal that consolidates the operations of the current terminal one and two under one roof, with the capacity to serve more than 16 million travelers annually.

Agencie’s scope is secondary steel engineering for the facades and canopies.  We serve as the structural engineer for 150,000 SF of ETFE, glass, and opaque canopies, egress stair structures off the roadway, the ID tower, and roadway baffles.

We engineered the secondary steel for the skylights that form the aperture for the building’s signature Headhouse space. The skylight and facades are a significant part of its experience—with beautiful exposed structural steel and details that transition from the outside deep into the interiors.
